The boom of Digital Marketing in the beauty industry

You may be wondering, what’s The boom of Digital Marketing in the beauty industry?

The beauty industry is shifting quite rapidly and throughout the past few years it’s evolution has grown.

DIGITISATION

Let’s get real here, what is a beauty brand without a digital marketing presence? Now, more than ever, we’ve opened a platform to be able to vocalise what we want, and what we don’t. L’Oreals chief executive Jean-Paul Agon got to the core of this when he spoke with CNBC and spoke what is on everyone’s minds “I think the future of beauty will be more and more about technology, about the quality, about the formulation, about the individualisation, about the digitalisation and about responding to those specific needs” and we couldn’t agree more.

The digital and most importantly social media platforms are essentially without us noticing, a public discussion where feedback is given straight up to beauty brands. Whether you notice it or not, it’s simply evolving into building a digital community to talk about beauty and that is truly amazing.

SMALL OR BIG, YOUR ONLINE BRAND RULES

Have you ever wondered if you purchased all your skincare and makeup from the one big brand? Major stores like Sephora and Mecca Cosmetica have led the way into introducing exclusive and a variety of international brands and have been able to open up access for us, what’s not to love right?

The smaller brands are slowly beginning to pop up, giving those big beauty brands a serious run for their money. A great Australian brand, Lanolips, began on a small remote Australian sheep farm, and now you see one of the countries most loved on the go lip balms in major beauty brands such as Mecca Cosmetica.

The impact on the beauty industry is coming in strong, and it isn’t just a space for major players now.

A NEW LOOK

It’s no secret everyone wants that glossy, natural skin and hell yes those brands are responding quicker than ever (thank you). There’s a major demand for beauty products to enhance our beauty needs and wants, not just to cover it.

There’s recently been a call for non-toxic, cruelty-free products that brands are beginning to turn their products into. Flavedo & Albedo are all about the quality of their packaging with no plastics, now that’s something amazing. The cosmetic brands are feeling the pressure to be an open book about what their testing really looks like behind the scenes.

IT'S 2021

In the beginning the beauty industry was heavily dominated by females, but it’s 2021 and inclusivity has made us more competitive than ever in the world of beauty. What’s gender? Beauty is for every single human being and of any colour.

You may know Rhianna, well she conquered some serious success goals in 2017. Rhianna introduced her Fenty Beauty products providing: 40 shades of foundation, 2 universal lip colours (flattering at that trust me here). The response was insane and in that same year she managed to become Sephora’s Australia top 10 selling products (this being only available for 3 months, yep that’s right just 3).

INGREDIENTS, WE’RE SO SAVVY FOR THIS

Millennials are so on top of the beauty industry, so there’s no room for brands to fudge claims or their product to include ingredients that aren’t beneficial, they see you, they hear you and they’ll call you out. Results have been growing with the transparency, and tighter quality when it comes to a formulation.

The Beauty & The Boom is evolving, ever changing and advancing right in front of our eyes. The beauty industry is seriously one of the most incredible industries there is and with it being 2021 we’re so excited to see what more is to come.
